9:00 A.M. Meeting called to order by Chairman Bill Norcross.
Present: Casper golf: David Ford, David Bell and Andy Kesling; and Members: Bill Norcross, Jim Hester and Frank Guglielmi; MGA representative: John Brown; 9 Hole Ladies Representative: Carole Winters: WGA Representative: not present.
MGA: John Brown: Upcoming tournaments this summer: Couples tournament: Memorial Day May 25th and July 4th; and Men’s Member/Member August 6-7. He had questions and suggestions to improve the faces of some of the deeper greenside bunkers.
WGA: Not present.
Bill Norcross: Asked about ants on the course last week. The reason for flying ants is unknown and no damage to the course. This happens every year in the spring. He asked that the grass around ponds be allowed to grow to stop balls. David Bell said this is possible. Bill commented on the progress of cart paths and tree replacement as positive progress. There was discussion about a handicap and rules committee being established for the club. Mike Lamere will be the professional representative for the club. There will be additional members of the club on the committee who have attended a USGA Seminar.
David Ford: Summer will be very busy with maintenance projects. The course is getting very active in social media for improved communications and trying to attract more play and memberships.
David Bell: Gave an update on progress of the cart path project and other scheduled maintenance on both courses. We are now using the smaller tines (1/2”) for aerification which should speed the healing process. We have started the controlled burns on Turtle Run and they will continue. When pond project on Deer Run starts on #9, the soil will be used to elevate some of the gold tees. He discussed the problems with the greens on Turtle Run and they are working to correct these. The scheduled maintenance course closures are posted outside the cub house but is dependent on the weather.
Andy Kesling: On August 3rd Casper Golf nationwide sponsors the World’s Largest Golf Outing with proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project. All members are encouraged to participate in this great event.
The golf committee would like to congratulate David Ford and the rest of his Sun n Lake team on their recent awards from the Casper organization. This is recognition of the good work they have accomplished over the past year for our golf club.
If any member has any questions, concerns, requests, or comments about the golf operation please feel free to contact any member of the golf committee to have them brought before the committee and Casper Golf. Committee members are Bill Norcross, Frank Guglielmi, Jim Hester, Dr. John Brown, Carole Winters, and Sharon Andrews.
